Professor Alessandro Ashanti is an 8th degree black belt who has been training in the martial arts since 1980. His studies encompass a wide variety of arts, including Jujitsu, Goju-Ryu Karate, Eskrima, Capoeira Angola, and others. He currently holds rank in 5 martial arts and is passionately dedicated to his own continued study, growth and exploration. He began teaching in 1989 and is the founder and head instructor of Full Circle Jujitsu. Professor Ashanti specializes in helping students rapidly gain confidence and functional skill, and he loves helping others find their way on the martial path.
Professor Alessandro Ashanti teaches his classes in the Phoenix, AZ Metro Area, and also holds seminars and events across the United States and internationally. He currently holds the following ranks:
8th Degree Black Belt in Full Circle Jujitsu
Pangalawang Guro (Advanced Instructor) in Serrada Eskrima under Master Khalid Khan
8th degree black belt in The World Sansei Koryu Goju-Ryu Karate-do Organization under Hanshi Manny Saavedra
5th degree black belt in Jujitsu with the American Jujitsu Association
3rd degree black belt in Zujitsu under Soke Chaka Zulu
3rd degree black belt Sanuces-Ryu Jujitsu under Hanshi Anton Muhammad
He is also a Reiki Master and integrates its teachings into Full Circle. He has studied Kada Anan Eskrima under Guro Michael J. Butz and Urban Street Survival with Sifu Terry Baruti. He has also studied various other styles of martial arts, most notably Capoeira Angola with Mestre Terry Baruti.

Q. What’s your favorite art?
A. That’s like asking me to pick a favorite kid!
Q. Why did you start training?
A. Self defense. I was horribly bullied as a child.
Q. What’s a favorite memory?
A. Doing a form inside the great pyramid of Giza, Egypt and teaching in the temples throughout the country.
Q. If you could pick an art to study now, what would it be?
A. Tai Chi.
